Erik Guenther selected as the recipient of the 2007 "Warrior of the Year" Award
The Dane County Criminal Defense Lawyers Association announced that Erik Guenther was selected as the 2007 recipient of the "Warrior of the Year" award. The award is given annually to a criminal defense lawyer to recognize significant accomplishments in professional advocacy.
The announcement noted that "Erik Guenther was recognized as Warrior of the Year for his service in Afghanistan.”
Guenther is serving in Afghanistan with the Justice Sector Support Program (JSSP); a program funded by the U.S. Department of State. His work involves training of judges, police officers, defense attorneys and corrections officials, with a focus on individual rights and the role of defense counsel. He has been on a leave of absence from Hurley, Burish & Stanton, S.C. since September 2007 and will be returning at the conclusion of his tour in April 2008.
The award was presented at the Association’s annual meeting at the Casbah restaurant in Madison on December 1, 2007.
